Rohith Jayaraman
Born and raised in San Jose, California, Rohith Jayaraman is a vocalist, composer, arranger, and vocal percussionist steeped in the Carnatic (South Indian classical) tradition. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he was one of the early members of the renowned Berklee Indian Ensemble, arranging and composing for the group. After graduating with a degree in music therapy, Jayaraman accepted the role of assistant manager of Berklee India Exchange.
As a vocalist, Jayaraman is known for his soulful voice, speed, precision, and infectious energy. He has shared the stage with universally acclaimed and award-winning artists such as A. R. Rahman, Zakir Hussain, Shreya Ghoshal, John McLaughlin, Shankar Mahadevan, and Tigran Hamasyan, and has studied with master musicians Asha Ramesh, R. K. Shriramkumar, Vijay Siva, and T. M. Krishna.
Jayaraman has been teaching Carnatic music concepts for over 10 years, working with students of all ages and levels. He is a regular session vocalist, working frequently with musicians, dancers, and artists from around the world.
