In Their Own Words

"In the Voice Department, I work hard to ensure that our program is a place where you as students and your instructors can recognize and utilize your strengths, confront your challenges, and work to build your own specific professional musical path."

"I know what it means to create your own professional musical path from scratch. I started my life as a singer, not as a student in music school, but as a curious amateur who started his private vocal studies seven years after college graduation while working as both an investment counselor at TIAA-CREF and as a part-time, freelance violist in the New York City area. As my casual interest in singing slowly evolved into a desire for professional pursuits, the usual young artists’ track development was not available to me given my age. As a result, I crafted my own development program of university training, private study, research of vocal culture, and marketing activities that eventually resulted in performances across the U.S., representation by one of the leading classical agencies in New York, and singing and recording engagements in Germany, Italy, South Korea, and Ukraine. I achieved all of this while working in human resources and finance-related positions at Harvard, MIT, and Berklee."

"How fortunate you are to study in Berklee’s Voice Department, where you have the opportunity to dig deep to hone the skills to give full voice to your artistic expression; to receive insightful feedback as a catalyst for your personal progress;  and to explore styles, genres, disciplines, and roles that could take you in directions you never imagined."
