What Do We Mean by "Family"?
The Office of New Student and Family Programs uses the word "family" intentionally to include parents, grandparents, siblings, guardians, spouses, significant others, partners, foster parents, and chosen family because we strive to honor all types of families. Our office serves the families of our students by offering resources that connect you with the institution and address your needs as family members of the Berklee community.
Upcoming Family Check-in Meeting and Article Discussion
Each month, we offer a family meeting to check in and answer general questions. Depending on the time of year, we either discuss an article chosen by the New Student and Family Programs team or bring in a featured area or department. The next family check-in meeting will take place in September 2021.
Upcoming Beverages and Bites Events
Our Beverages and Bites events provide an informal opportunity for families to meet others virtually in their region and share their experiences. Between September and May we offer monthly virtual connections on Zoom, and participating families are encouraged to bring coffee and bagels or wine and cheese as we share stories and advice. Attendees are broken up by region using Zoom's breakout room function.
Our next Beverages and Bites for Berklee family members will take place on Wednesday, August 28 at 12:00 p.m. ET. You can join us on Zoom here.

Family Spotlight
Each month, we will spotlight a new Berklee family. Email nsfp@berklee.edu if you are interested in being featured on our website and monthly newsletter. See below for an example of a previous submission from the Calise family of Cranston, Rhode Island:
Favorite family artists: Cole is the youngest of four brothers, pictured above. They all have a true love for music, from a variety of genres, and have many favorite artists, including Frank Sinatra, Aerosmith, Prince, and Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, Toto, Stevie Wonder, and more.
Currently watching or reading: As a family, the Calises enjoy watching The Office, Eric Andre, Community, Schitt's Creek, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Cole and his brothers love to laugh together, and they enjoy documentaries. Cole loves to read articles, stories, and books about his favorite musicians as well.
About their student: Cole’s entire world is driven by his music. He loves to explore all instruments and enjoys writing music. Playing the drums is like breathing for him. This past summer, Cole started a band called New Nova. In the midst of the pandemic, he decided to push forward and play, with a mission to spread positivity and good vibes through his love, creativity, and passion for music, in order to bring a sense of happiness, normalcy, and fun to all who had the opportunity to hear him.
Now that Cole is back on campus, he is growing even more as an artist, learning from his amazing professors and collaborating with his talented classmates. He is more driven than ever: He understands, welcomes, and appreciates the road of hard work and dedication he faces ahead that will bring him opportunities and allow him to accomplish his goals and dreams. The Calise family could not be more supportive or proud of him and will always be his biggest fans.
