Facilities and Resources

Studying at Berklee comes with access to the institution's performance facilities, such as the Berklee Performance Center and the Red Room at Cafe 939, our recording studios, and the Stan Getz Media Center and Library in addition to many more studios, labs, classrooms, and performance spaces.

You'll study in classrooms equipped for playing and critical listening, and you'll take your playing to the next level in Berklee's private lesson studios, where you'll receive valuable guidance, support, and feedback from Berklee's world-class faculty.

Piano Rooms

All of the Piano Department's private teaching studios are equipped with two pianos to enable the teacher to play along or demonstrate. The studios have either a Yamaha Disklavier for recording and immediate playback, or a Yamaha Clavinova digital electronic keyboard for rhythmic accompaniment and a wide variety of instrumental colors. You will also have access to more than 80 practice studios. In addition, there are larger group instruction rooms complete with the latest in digital electronic keyboards. Piano Department performances are often videotaped for subsequent faculty and student analysis.

171 Massachusetts Avenue Practice Rooms

Piano principals should practice in the 171 Massachusetts Avenue practice rooms, not the 150 Massachusetts Avenue practice rooms. It's your facility, so please use it. Our hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 11:45 p.m. on weekdays and from 12:00 p.m. until 11:45 p.m. on weekends.

Important: performance majors, please go to the Piano Department office during the first three weeks of the semester to sign up for your reserved practice time.
