“My style of teaching is active and collaborative. I encourage students to learn by doing, improvising and adapting with the learning process so that it is a creative endeavor that is meaningful to the individual. Drawing on my background as a singer, teacher, director, nonprofit founder, and fundraiser, I strive to provide students with practical tools while encouraging them to think big and long term. I hope my students come away with a heightened sense of their own possibility and the inspiration to tackle life creatively.”
“A musician’s first asset is their physical body. In Movement for Musicians, my focus is on wellness, flexibility, strength, improvisation, and artistic expression. The class draws on theater games, improvisation, and yoga to explore body language and awareness, connections between movement and musical expression, basic mechanics of breath, alignment, relaxation techniques, and presentation skills. In the professional music classes, I hope to help students harness their ingenuity and individual strengths as they identify the concrete steps needed to build a successful career in the arts.”
