Visiting Artist Series: 2WEI and Emily Weber
Please see the events listing for upcoming events.
The Berklee Visiting Artist Series is a live, interactive forum featuring some of today's most innovative professional performers and creators. These moderated discussions will focus on the topics of artistry, entrepreneurship, and social justice, and students will have the opportunity to actively participate by posing questions directly to guests. This event features a live interview with 2WEI and Emily Weber ’97, moderated by Sean McMahon, chair of the Film Scoring Department.
2WEI is a composer team founded in 2016 by Christian Vorländer and Simon Heeger with studios in Hamburg, Germany, and Venice Beach, California. Their music has been featured in numerous movie trailers, including Wonder Woman, Tomb Raider, and Mortal Engines. After meeting in college, they pursued different career paths: Vorländer began working for Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL in Los Angeles, while Heeger honed his skills at advertising music houses Mophonics and Yessian. When Vorländer returned to Germany in late 2015, they joined forces and formed 2WEI, combining their skills from the advertising and film music worlds. 2WEI has licensed tracks for major Hollywood trailer campaigns; created music for brands including Audi, BMW, Facebook, and Porsche; remixed songs by LL Cool J and A$AP Ferg; and composed music for video game trailers such as League of Legends, Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Need for Speed.
Emily Weber, vice president/head of sync for Position Music, works with clients in the U.S., U.K., and Europe to find and customize music for their movie trailers and television promos. She also collaborates with the company’s A&R department on the production of trailer music albums and artist signings. In her eight years at Position Music, Weber has placed music in hundreds of television and film marketing campaigns, with credits that include Peppermint, Avengers: Infinity War, The Predator, Justice League, Mortal Engines, Tomb Raider, Deadpool 2, and more.
