VIDEO: Alumna Anita Antoinette ’11 Among Top 10 on ‘The Voice’
Berklee alumna and singer-songwriter Anita Antoinette ’11 is one of 10 competitors remaining on NBC’s hit performance show The Voice. A former professional music major at Berklee, Antoinette, who is originally from Kingston, Jamaica, chose pop superstar Gwen Stefani as her coach on the show and has wowed audiences with performances of songs such as Bob Marley’s “Turn Your Lights Down Low,” "Rude" by Magic!, and Johnny Nash’s “I Can See Clearly Now.”
Her successful run on the show also included a high-energy performance of “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor, a former Berklee Five-Week Summer Performance Program student, that featured a reggae-inflected breakdown, putting Antoinette’s unique stamp on the chart-topping song. Following her most recent performance, in which she delivered an impassioned rendition of Bob Marley’s classic “Redemption Song,” Stefani noted, “It was authentic, it was beautiful, and it was true. I just feel blessed to be a part of it.”
