Progressive rock enthusiasts in Mumbai and Bengaluru enjoyed intensive two-day workshops this May at the Berklee Tandon Global Clinics conducted by the Berklee India Exchange.

Annette Philip, artistic director of the Berklee India Exchange and director of the Berklee Indian Ensemble, recently spoke with India Today about creating music across continents. 

The Berklee Indian Ensemble will present stories and songs about shared, universal human experiences in a concert at the Berklee Performance Center.

Raghu Dixit, who was recently at Berklee for a concert and four-day residency that included a public talk, the making of a music video with the Berklee Indian Ensemble, a sold-out concert, and a workshop, brought his infectious joy to the Red Room at Cafe 939. 

Shankar Mahadevan took the stage at the Berklee Performance Center on December 13, surrounded by the Berklee Indian Ensemble, performing to a sold-out and enthusiastic house that cheered on the star who’s known for his work on many Bollywood soundtracks and for his best-selling album Breathless.

After success in India and hits with the band Aasma, Vasuda Sharma '12 wanted something more: she wanted to be better, not just bigger, so she came to Berklee to learn and grow as a musician.

The Berklee Indian Ensemble, a dynamic group of students representing more than 40 countries, will perform a sold-out concert with Indian master vocalist and composer Shankar Mahadevan on Tuesday, December 13, 2016.

In his first trip to India, renowned saxophonist Donald Harrison Jr. '81 played with the Berklee All-Stars to a sold-out crowd of several thousand people at the 6th Delhi International Jazz Festival.

For its first performance outside of the United States, the Berklee Indian Ensemble played to a crowd of more than 5,000 people at the 54th Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava megafestival in India.

The Berklee Indian Ensemble will appear at Deepak Chopra's Sages and Scientists Symposium in Los Angeles as a special musical guest.
