In this hands-on musicking workshop, renowned ethnomusicologist and percussionist Michael Bakan will work directly with participants to create and bring to musical life an E-WoMP (Exploratory World Music Playground), modeled on that of the Artism Ensemble, a cutting edge, neurodiverse, and intergenerational music performance collective that focused on the unique talents of individuals with autism spectrum conditions (ASC).
The group will employ improvisational methods on a diverse range of percussion instruments to develop innovative methods for engaging effectively with individuals across the spectrum of neurodiversity in wide-ranging musical and therapeutic contexts.
