Michael Barrett is a conductor, teacher, and performer specializing in vocal music of the Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. He conducts two chamber choirs in the Boston area and collaborates with ensembles in the U.S. and abroad. At Berklee, he teaches courses in conducting and music history in the European tradition.
"Of course we work towards mastery of the material, but my broader, and arguably more important, goal is for students to train themselves to think critically (in part by questioning the information they are presented with), to express themselves cogently and persuasively, and to recognize the connections across the many facets of their lives: school, work, and even social."
