Description

The Django Reinhardt/Gypsy Jazz ensemble will study and perform the music of Django Reinhardt and other artists in the idiom. The music is primarily acoustic string and guitar based. Students will participate in weekly supervised rehearsals, develop a memorized repertoire, and gain experience in stylistic improvisation and melodic interpretation. Emphasis on stylistic integrity via listening and transcription, as well as melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic accuracy. Course includes end-of-semester performance.
